The Framas China Creation Centre (FCCC) was designed as a collaborative laboratory for shoe design that blurs the distinctions between creative work and play. Situated within China’s Greater Bay Area manufacturing corridor and Framas’ global production network, the centre draws resident designers and international collaborators alike to envision shoes of the future. The centre embodies the Framas ethos for sustainability and industrial innovation. Both beliefs are presented through the use of industrial materials such as the repurposing of galvanized studs and proprietary metal pipe as ceiling louvres and light fixtures.
A key feature welcoming visitors to the centre is a sculptural yellow reception desk, created through a process of melting PVC refuse. Created in collaboration with Korean artist and designer Kang Youngmin of 1st Creative Collective, the piece functions both as a desk and a statement that resonates with Framas’ manufacturing innovations and vision for sustainability.
